Kezia Alyssa Sandy

Based in Tangerang, Indonesia, Kezia pursued her passion in dance in her college years by taking ballet classes and workshops, and soon fell in love with the freedom of expression contemporary dance. Coming from an architecture background, she believes that as architecture is an art of designing space, so is dance: on how to create and utilize space inside, within, and outside the body, to give a purpose or message for its users: humans.

Kezia has worked as performer for dance companies and communities in Indonesia, collaborating with visual artists, musicians, fashion designers and movie directors on several projects. Since the pandemic, she joined Gigi Art of Dance’s Dance Lab community, and together they explored possibilities for creating and moving in both physical and virtual space, producing a series of virtual interactive performances and short personal dance film projects. She was one of the facilitators for Asian Youth Theater Festival Online Residency Program 2021.

Kezia believes that dance is an artform for everyone and for every age, and she holds on to what her mentor always says: “Each dance is a privilege.” And it’s a privilege that all humans must have. She now dedicates her life to sharing the joy of dance by teaching ballet and contemporary dance for children and young adults, while honing herself in her dance training and expanding her knowledge and network in the Indonesian dance scene.

Kezia will be Program Co-Ordinator for OUR_PART in Indonesia.
